Lionel Downer

Lionel Downer is a Life, Health and Group Benefits Sales Executive. He provides sales and client support for a wide array of corporations and organizations throughout the Caribbean, with services which include Medical, Dental, Life, Vision, Prescription Drug Plans, Short & Long-Term Disability, COBRA Administration, Web-Based Benefits Enrollment and Tools, Health Advocacy Services and Centralized Program Administration. Lionel provides complete analysis of a business’ employee benefits programs, plan and funding strategies, and professional recommendations that are the best fit for each client.

A 20-year veteran of the health insurance industry, Lionel has served in his current role for 9 years. Prior to coming to Marshall & Sterling, Lionel served in sales leadership roles with a number of industry leading companies, including United Healthcare in Illinois. He is a licensed insurance broker for life, health, accident, disability and air ambulance.

Lionel attended Moraine Valley Community College and Eastern Illinois University. He is the recipient of numerous industry awards including “Gold Level” producer recognition with United Healthcare (2009, 2011), “Top Individual” producer recognition with BUPA Insurance (2004-2010) and Marshall & Sterling’s Community Service Award (2011).

An active and engaged community volunteer, Lionel is a past Board Member, performer and director with Caribbean Community Theatre, as well as past Board Member and Board Chair with The Womens’ Coalition of St. Croix, and a Board Director and Past President of the Rotary Club of St. Croix-Harborside.
