"The expertise and commitment of Marshall & Sterling has been instrumental to help our startup dealing with insurances and compliance boards with NY State. Lorraine Emerick and her team have been fantastic to work with during the entire process!"

Stephane Corgie
CEO Zymtronix

"For more than a decade, Lorraine Emerick and Ken Grey of Marshall and Sterling Insurance have been lead sponsors of the Business Incubator Association of New York State. Not only have they generously supported our activities, but they also really “get” the insurance needs of the startups that business incubators serve. Marshall and Sterling has developed clients in incubator facilities and programs statewide, across industry sectors ranging from specialty food products to biotechnology and health. They should be on the recommended vendor list of any incubator manager in the state.”

David Hochman
founding executive director, BIA/NYS

Here is a recent letter sent to our Chairman, John O'Shea, by one of Bobbi Whiteford & Karen Lockrow's clients...

"I am writing today to recount a very critical and nerve racking matter I had recently with Hartford Insurance. My company has been a client of Marshall & Sterling for nearly ten years and in all that time I have always been very satisfied with the service and dedication of everyone I have encountered. However, my most recent experience with my agent has compelled me to write to you today. The details are rather unimportant but let me once again assure you that this occurrence was a deeply harrowing experience for my 24 year old small business.

In short, there was an issue about the coverage of a very large loss. Right away Bobbi Whiteford reassured me that she had the necessary documentation, and together with Karen Lockrow proceeded with an extremely dedicated and professional approach. The level of documentation of emails and other correspondence - some going back almost 24 months - clearly was, in the end what lead to a favorable conclusion for my company.

I really cannot find the words appropriate to express my sincere gratitude for dealing with such professionals as Bobbi and Karen."

One client recently worked closely with Erin Vincent for their Commercial Business Policy and said...

"She was extremely helpful and went the extra step to help us get full coverage at a very good price. The lady at the front desk, along with other members in the Leeds office were also extremely friendly when passing by them.

Very nice atmosphere. Keep up the good work for your clients and they will stay with you."

"As a result of a call from UE last week regarding CGL endorsement claims and billing, I was left with more questions than the UE caller had answers to.   I called Karen Lockrow this morning regarding how to identify which claims come under the CGL endorsement.  (UE's concern was our payments to Scott Ely rather than UE paying Scott directly, after payment from us, for these types of claims.)  Karen took the time to review and answer all my questions, identified our CGL claims, and together we will cross check our weekly reports when I forward them to her for CGL claims.  Karen's knowledge of claims/policies/procedures is outstanding and I was left with a better understanding of our role in identifying claims and how our payments will be directed.  It was a pleasure talking with Karen!"

"On behalf of the Health & Safety Subcommittee of the Nassau Community College Campus Services Committee, I would like to say, 'Thank you SO much!'  You both did a great job.  I like the way you interacted together to co-present the workshop.  Your presentation was informative and attention-getting.  It was filled with just enough statistics and just enough sad stories to influence the minds and tear at the hearts of those watching it and hearing it.  Most importantly, you both came across as people who cared about others.  And, your company's image was portrayed positively -- as a helpful and efficient organization that continually gives back to people and communities.

At my departmental meeting on Wednesday, I shared the highlights of your presentation with other faculty members.  I mentioned that I had many leftover handouts and I did get several requests for them.  So, as a result, many more students will be getting this important information as well.  I will also be sending them the link to your Power Point presentation that you sent me.  (Thanks for that.)  I  will forward it to the members of the Campus Services Committee as well.

You both went above and beyond once again.  It was so generous for you to drive that huge distance for us (two years in a row).  I look forward to our continued association and intend to keep in touch.

With much appreciation,

Laurie Joseph

“I just want to say THANK YOU! I am really enjoying MyWave and wish I had utilized it sooner. I had to do some FMLA paperwork this morning. I decided to “test” MyWave HR to see if FMLA info was available and/or helpful and boy was I happy to find everything I could possibly need regarding FMLA. Not only did I find the forms I needed, they were converted to MS Word so I just had to type in the information, save and then print them. I also enjoyed the many different FAQ’s that answered all questions I had about FMLA. I’ve learned new and important information regarding FMLA this morning because of MyWave HR. So thank you for MyWave and for making my morning easier!"

"Marshall & Sterling has been BullEx’s insurance broker from the beginning, during our days at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Incubator in 2004. Lorraine Emerick and Ken Grey took the time to understand our business operations and consistently provided a full marketing analysis in order to obtain the best insurance terms for our company. Lorraine and Ken provided honest professional advice, continual communication, prompt personal service, and guidance through the insurance markets. Their sharing of ideas and alternative solutions had been extremely valuable during BullEx’s rapid growth and especially beneficial during our merger/acquistion. I highly recommend Lorraine, Ken, and the team at Marshall & Sterling in Leeds, NY. "

"Just wanted to say how easy it was to take the Marshall & Sterling Online Defensive Driving Course. It did take 6 hours which I did in 3 nights, but I was able to do it in the comfort of my own home on my laptop. The course was almost half the price of going somewhere to take it, also there was no test at the end and within about 3 days I had the Certificate in the mail. I'm very glad I took it, and now can save money on my Car Insurance!"

"At the beginning of 2013 the Town of Queensbury Animal Control Department had initiated a project geared to Kindergarten Students at Queensbury School entitled Dog Bite Prevention. In the summer of 2012, the Town experienced a total of twelve dog bite cases in just one week - all children were under the age of twelve. We approached our insurance broker, Marshall &Sterling and with the assistance of Lorraine Emerick, Vice President, we developed a program for the Queensbury Elementary School. On May 24th and 28th 2013, Animal Control Officer James Fitzgerald and his Service Dog Maya, along with Ms. Tammie Landers (Secretary), Darleen Dougher (Town Clerk) and Lorraine Emerick of Marshall & Sterling, we presented a program to over three hundred Kindergarten Students. This program was greatly enhanced through the generous donations by Marshall and Sterling, which included coloring books, stickers and a power point they developed on Dog Bite Prevention.

This program was a very positive experience for these students and it is our sincere hope that the number of dog bites will be greatly reduce because of this highly received program.  The Town of Queensbury Animal Control Department wish to extend their gratitude for all the support and encouragement that Lorraine Emerick and Marshall & Sterling gave to us and our citizens, big and small, of the Town of Queensbury.

"I wanted to take a few minutes to say thank you very much for Jean Valk.  She has done a fabulous job with all our new certificate renewals.  We received everything we needed on time. I always can depend on her to get back to me right away with all my requests.  It's wonderful and reassuring to have someone to depend on like Jean.  It's a true pleasure to work with her. She is an excellent representative for your company."
