Webinar: ERISA Compliance 101 - Employer Basics
Marshall & Sterling E-Alerts - Keeping You in the Know
Since its passage in 1974, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) has imposed an escalating number of regulations upon plan sponsors of health and other welfare benefits-including medical, dental, life insurance and disability plans to name a few.
As Congress passed additional laws augmenting ERISA such as COBRA, HIPAA, and most recently the ACA, and as the IRS and DOL issued subsequent regulations on these, complying with the numerous requirements has become increasingly complicated.
All plan sponsors need to be aware of certain key provisions of ERISA that affect plan design, administration, and compliance. Periodic assessment of employer practices and procedures is critical to avoid problems.
Watch as Dannielle O'Toole, Esq., Marshall & Sterling's in-house Health Care Reform counsel, for a complimentary webinar, as she discusses key foundational ERISA concepts and provides an overview of what needs to be evaluated to stay in compliance.
Some topics the webinar covers:
- History of ERISA and its regulatory environment
- Which plans are covered by ERISA and which plans are exempt
- Non-discrimination rules/testing
- Employer reporting and employee disclosure provisions
