What If My Horse is Sick or Injured?
At the first sign of an injury or illness, call your veterinarian, then call the 24-hour claim phone - (800) 331-0211. The call will be answered by an adjuster during daytime hours and by a machine overnight. Be sure to leave your phone number and area code. Overnight, the adjuster will call back within 15 minutes if it is an emergency. Non-emergency problems should be reported during business hours. The adjuster will contact your veterinarian to discuss the vet's diagnoses and recommendations.
How to Collect on a Claim
Death: In the event that an insured horse dies due to a reported injury or illness, the adjuster will require the following items. Upon approval of a valid claim and the receipt of the requested items a claim check will be sent:

- Original horse registry (if available)
- Copy of the bill of sale and/or cancelled check as proof of ownership and value.
- Veterinarian's reports.
Major Medical: Claim checks are issued at the conclusion of treatment or insurance coverage; whichever comes first. Valid claims will be paid upon receipt and review of the following:
- Veterinarian's report.
- Your copies of the vet bills.
Loss of Use: Once your vet has determined that your horse is "permanently" incapable of fulfilling his use as you stated and the company has agreed that the incapability is a "covered loss" the following will happen:
- The company may ask a second opinion from another vet.
- The company will require receipt of the veterinarian's reports prior to final determination of "Loss of Use"
- You will be required to decide which payment you prefer
- 50% and you retain ownership of your horse.
- 75% if your horse is euthanized (Certificate of Death required).
- Payment will be sent when all of the above is agreed upon by you and the company.
